The Executive Chairman of Bariga Local Council, Hon. Bukola Omope Adedeji, has launched a 25-day intensive Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Empowerment Training, aimed at promoting digital literacy and innovation at the grassroots level.
The official launch which held on Monday was attended by dignitaries who lauded the initiative of the council boss.
Hon. Adedeji, speaking, stated that the initiative is a giant step in bringing about digital literacy to the grassroots.
She added that the launch is phase one and that participants would be empowered with digital tools at the end of the programme.

“This training is a significant milestone in bringing science and innovation to the grassroots. This is Phase 1; another phase is still coming.
“We aim to promote digital literacy in Bariga. At the end of the training, we will equip participants with digital tools like a brand new laptop. I urge you all to take advantage of this programme,” she added.
She expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, especially Hon. Kolade David Alabi.
In his remark, Hon. Tunbosun Alake, Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology, represented by Mr. Kehinde Ibrahim, commended the initiative and encouraged participants to stay focused, while Hon. Alabi emphasised the transformative power of ICT, calling it a “catalyst that empowers youth with knowledge and innovation.”

Also speaking, Hon. Samuel Apata, representative, Shomolu Constituency I, urged attendees to learn and share their knowledge with others and Hon. Abiodun Orekoya, Shomolu Constituency II, in his own remarks, praised Hon. Adedeji’s commitment to youth empowerment and acknowledged Hon. Alabi’s legacy of infrastructure.
Hon. Osiyemi, the Commissioner for Transportation, applauded the Chairman’s performance and encouraged full participation.
Among key stakeholders in attendance were Hon. Prince Babatunde Adesida, Vice Chairman of the council, Hon. Wasiu Balogun, Leader of the Bariga Legislative Arm and the Councillors,Otunba Shakirudeen Anifowoshe Dengel, Hon. Dare Martins Onakoya, Executive Secretary, Somolu Local Government Education District, Hon. Akin Majolagbe, APC Chairman, Bariga Local Council, Alhaja Modupe Raji, APC Women Leader, Bariga and Engineer Padonu, Council Engineer.
